Enabler:
Mobility System Performance - Assessment of progress towards achieving 4hrs door-to-door goal
Cluster of enablers:
Creating the Basics
Capability
Capability:
Methodology, tools & metrics to assess the necessary transportation infrastructure planning and progress towards achieving the goal of at least 90% of travellers within Europe and in the context of a global market being able to complete a door-to-door integrated, seamless and affordable journey involving air transport within 4 hours
Sub capability:
Basic methodology & metrics development
R&I needs:
Develop an agreed set of criteria for the assessment of progress towards the 4hr-door-to-door mobility goal
Achievements
2020:
Traffic flows (journeys of passengers and freight) as well as their performance (e.g. duration, time of day etc.) and the transportation modes used in Europe assessed, initial model for their replication and simulation created and validated, baseline towards 4hr d2d-goal mobility established. 2015: Ways identified to improve in parallel the methodology, tools and metrics for air transport infrastructure planning and progress, both for the 90% door to door requirement and for new upcoming economic areas especially those that are not well connected with first results and recommendations to be published in 2020
2035:
Full capability developed, current system performance can be measured from operational data of transportation providers, progress towards mobility goals can be assessed Recommendations published to further improvement of the (aviation) transport system for the next 20 years
2050:
Evolution 2035 refined and updated
Key Performance Indicator:
Assessment, monitoring and forecast capability of traffic flows (O-D matrix for journeys of passengers and freight), their performance (e.g. duration, time of day etc.) and the transportation modes used in Europe Availability of mobility and transportation system model for the replication and simulation for mobility flows and mobility performance Availability of functionality and methodology to determine the contribution of new infrastructure or transport services towards the achievement of the 4hr-d2dgoal
